🏞 The Alabama Hills are a scenic area near Lone Pine, California, known for their unique geological features. The landscape is filled with rounded granite boulders and eroded hills contrasting with the sharp peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The hills were formed over millions of years of weathering processes that sculpted the granite into its current shape. The area is popular for hiking, rock climbing, camping, photography, and off-roading. This is also a well known filming location for many movies, including westerns with actors like John Wayne.

I've seen base jumpers at the bridge, but I live about 6min away from it.
Cool! We wish we could have seen some!
The western part of the United States is just the absolute best! Every place you visit seems to be grander and more beautiful than the last. That camp site was bonkers in terms of how gorgeous the views were!
We couldn't agree more! We were so impressed with the view from that campground and the Alabama Hills were amazing. We love the west!
Dawson City , ''Sending drunk cashless Europeans to Tok For over 75 years and going strong'' Tok, '' Celebrating 75 years of maxing out the credit cards of hungover Europeans and towing all of their wrecked cars off of the Taylor hwy '' - the funniest guy in the room
I've been on the Alaska Highway before and stopped at Burwash Landing. This was 20 years ago when I moved to Iowa.
The scenery along the Alaska Highway was spectacular! It was a great drive!
This was a GREAT video with so much helpful information. Thank you!
We are glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
what us thier most used fuel for winter heat, wood? i can hardly believe there would be any trees left by now, i know sub zero climate growing up in central minnesota
We saw a lot of heating oil for sale in the far north, so we are sure that is a common fuel for winter heat in some areas, but we aren't sure about Dawson City specifically. We were in Minnesota along the North Shore a couple of weeks ago! Our videos run quite behind, but there will be one from there in the coming months. Stay tuned!
when did you film this? mid summer? i what to travel but now home bound, post stroke surviver my vision is a mess, i am liveing thru your eyes thankyou new sub
We are sorry to hear about your health issues, but glad you are enjoying traveling along with us. Thank you for subscribing and watching! We filmed this video in early September of 2023.
Nice Content
Thank you for the nice comment and thanks for watching!
Woo hoo! Great video!
Thank you! We are glad you enjoyed it!
I want to visit every spot that you went to! It all looks remarkable and it appears as though you were there at the perfect time of year. Can you imagine being there now? It has been at or above 120 for the past couple of days. Thank you so much for sharing this!
It is a remarkable place and we had great weather! We are really glad we went in early spring. We can't imagine being there in the heat of summer!
I live in Twin Falls and the best time to watch base jumpers is mid July on a day that there’s no wind
Thanks for the tip!
I have been a tour guide in Dawson City, and I have lived here since 2009. This was probably the most accurate video I've ever seen made by somebody from away. The only thing I might correct is most call him Tagish Charlie not Dawson Charlie although there are many people that use the Dawson Charlie name. Everything else was perfect!
Wow! Thank you so much. We try hard to do our research before making a video, but will admit that we don't always get it exactly right. It is good to know that this time we were (mostly) successful!
Thanks for sharing your story. I was in Dawson 1 time and have left my heart there. What a wild untamed land that is. Thanks again for taking me along with you.@@AlaskanRamTravelAdventures

Greetings from Dawson City Canada And our snow has almost all melted.😊😊😊😊
We are sure it is beautiful! Have a great summer!
We hope we have a good summer😊
Thank you for stirring up the memories. We drove that way in 2018 from the other side of the country. Four & half months on the road, an awesome time. The Bear glacier has certainly receded since our trip based on looking at our photos.
Sounds like you had an amazing trip, as did we! It is such a beautiful area and we are so happy we had the opportunity to see it!
This video is so awesome and interesting that I had to watch it again. It’s amazing how the weather went from terrible to crystal clear all in a single day! You really captured some beautiful pics and interesting info. Thanks so much for sharing this beauty!
Thank you! The weather change happened in a matter of minutes. We were shocked at how quickly it changed!
I slept in the back of my 1973 Ford F-250 in that parking lot way back in about 1987!
Wow! You probably have some good stories!
I love following your adventures! I’ve watched a lot of your Alaska trips and this one was just as amazing. I’ve never considered crater lake as a destination, but now it’s likely on the list. Keep up the great videos!!
Thanks for watching! We also had never given much thought to Crater Lake, but it is a phenomenal place! We are so glad we had the chance to go!
Unbelievable how the weather broke for you two just perfectly! That is some of the best scenery that I've seen in all of your videos. Did you have a sense for how deep the snow was in the areas where you were snow-shoeing?
We wish we had a better way to describe just how quickly the weather changed. It was unreal! With snow all around it was difficult to really tell how much we were snowshoeing on, but we felt like it was a lot!
Wow! Unbelievable beauty! Thanks for sharing!
It was a gorgeous place! Thanks for watching!
What time of the year was this and did you make reservations or just wing it? We're getting diverted from the ALCAN to the Cassier d/t the fire/s. Great video.
We traveled the Cassiar in September of 2023 on our way back to the lower 48 from Alaska. We did not have reservations. We took our chances and never had a problem getting a camp site, but that was a different time of year, and if everyone is being diverted that way, it is likely to be much more busy now. We hope it works out for you! It is a beautiful drive!
Can’t drive the AlCan Highway right now due to a fire in Fort Nelson
We almost had similar issues when we drove the Alaska Highway in May of 2023. It was closed for a couple of days due to fire, but opened back up just about the time we were heading through there. Both the Alaska Highway and the Cassiar are beautiful drives, so you can't go wrong with either one!
Thanks a Ton guys. I'll give it a try and let you know.
We hope it fixes the problem!
Hi Guys, loved your latest program. Could you help me with a question on your power system? I have a Honda EU 2000 like yourself in the identical Travel Trailer but my Inverter/ Charger has trouble accepting the current from the generator ( keeps cycling on and off). Did you have similar difficulties and if so is there a configuration work around? Thanks.....Pete
Hello Pete and thanks for watching. Are you using a neutral to ground bonding plug with your generator when connecting the generator to the trailer? If you are using a surge protector along with your generator, you will need one of these devices to allow the trailer to accept the generator power. We use an inexpensive one from Amazon. I have created an Amazon affiliate link you can use to direct you to it. amzn.to/3Uy4vD6 This gets plugged into one of the electrical outlets on your generator and you plug the trailer into the other empty electrical outlet. This device electrically ties the neutral and ground terminals together in the generator output to simulate shore power. Let us know if you have questions or need a different solution.
Sorry that Superior was closed when you were there. I thought that was a cool brewclub! I loved Hot Springs and your video brought back great memories for me! Thanks!
We were bummed that Superior was closed, too. We were really looking forward to trying it out!
Mercury rub? That sounds like a great idea!
Doesn't that sound healthy??
No thanks on the mercury rub! 😂
Yeah, we will take a pass on that one, too! Isn't it amazing what they thought was healthy in the past?
Sweet and low was derived from toxic leftovers. It is NOT made for human consumption. Linked to dementia as well as cancer. Jfyi
I'm new to lithium and had a question about the alternator isolation switch. Is this required when using a lithium battery? I just got thru installing lithium in place of AGM batteries.
Thanks for dropping us a comment. The Lithium battery isolator accomplishes a few things...It keeps the Lithium house batteries from running down your starter battery when the engine is not running (isolates the two systems). The device also prevents over-heating of your engine's alternator. If you run large gauge wires from your Lithium batteries to your alternator, you will want to limit the rate of charge to prevent premature failure of the alternator from over-heating. The Lithium battery/s will accept current at a much faster rate than lead acid, putting additional strain on the alternator from the increased current flow. The LI-BIM device we use limits the strain on the alternator by cycling on-off-on the charging current to the Lithium house battery/s. However, if you are only charging through the 7-pin trailer connector with small 10GA wires, you may not need to limit the charge current. The small wire size will automatically reduce the current flow. If you are just connected to the alternator thru the 7-pin connector, you will also either need to disconnect the 7-pin trailer connector from the tow vehicle during times when the engine isn't running, or you will need to use a battery isolator like the LI-BIM we mention.
I'm curious if you have a tip regarding dirty clothes storage until wash day. Great videos and I subscribed
Thanks for subscribing and watching! We have a laundry hamper that sits in the corner of the bedroom which holds most of our dirty laundry. If that gets too full before laundry day, we will transfer some of it into another laundry bag that we will then put in the cab (backseat area) of the truck.
Great video! Thanks for all the great tips!
Thanks for watching!
Walker Fork is nice, I like to stop there for lunch. You went through Jack Wade too, which has a rich mining history. Excellent that you had nice weather, The Top is miserable in the rain, it gets slick.
We had heard that it can get pretty slick when wet, so we were watching the weather very carefully and only considered taking the route when we saw a clear weather window. We are so glad it worked out for us. It was gorgeous and we loved getting into a more remote area!
Nice video, I'm going that way this year, 3 years in a row down the Alcan, I need a change of scenery.
It is a beautiful drive! We so wish we were going back this year, too!
@@AlaskanRamTravelAdventures ToTW, the Campbell and the Cassiar this year. Depending on weather. The first two suck when it's muddy.
Great video! Thanks for all the great tips!
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff! So nice to see all of the things you have done to make good use of technology when camping, what is generally considered an analog activity. I am sure this will be quite helpful to others as they look for ways to improve their own RV experience!
These days, integrating technology is almost necessary! While we have taken many steps to make the Bigfoot "smart" many other rigs we have seen are much more advanced. There is so much that can be done!
I’ve gone a bit further on my electrical system monitoring with all Victron equipment I monitor it all thoroughly through the VRM system Solar, charging with remote control anywhere to turn on and off the inverter function to charge only inverter only and on or off. Soon my dc to dc charger will integrate. I love the projector design . Nice work. I’ve also got temp sensors in the freezer refrigerator and battery compartment by Ruuvi. Also monitored via the web.
It sounds like you have an amazing set up! We could learn a thing or two from you!
Great video guys! Very clever ideas and we will definitely be putting a few of them to use. Hope to see you guys back out on the road again.
Thank you! For now, we are sticking to shorter trips, but look forward to getting back out for longer periods of time in the future. We have a two week trip coming up later this month!
Hi from Dawson City, I've been here for over 6 months now. Survived the winter, frosts were down to -50°🖐🖐🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍
Wow! That is really cold! We have never experienced cold like that.
I will live in Dawson for another year, my visa was extended until October 25.👍👍👍

One of our favorite side trips on the way to Alaska. Beautiful clear water. Can see everything on the bottom. Clear, crisp, air! A must see!
We loved it and are so glad we ventured off our intended path to check it out!
Nice quick tour video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Wonderful video. You mentioned the elevation being around 8100 feet, its more like 2700 feet and change.
Thanks for the correction. Our mistake!
Great info 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great info👍 The only thing I would add, is if your going to break a tire seal, maybe get some bead sealer. Cheers
Thanks for the suggestion. We were able to get them all to seal back up without the need for bead sealer.
Can l take a day tour for veldel from Anchorage
We aren't sure what kind of tours are available. There might very well be a flight tour there, but it is a five and a half hour drive from Anchorage to Valdez, so we wouldn't recommend a day trip by road. We actually allowed ourselves several days to go the distance since there are so many amazing sights along the way. Sorry we can't be more help, but we didn't do any formal tours in the area.
We covered the same places in our RAM Van in reverse order, driving up on the Cassiar, and down on the Alaska. We got to the Salmon Glacier, opened the back doors (with screen) and had a great evening. We actually saw mini icebergs floating down the river. you say next time? We are going back 2024, hope to see you there.
It sounds like you had an amazing trip! We won't make it back in 2024, but hopefully within the next few years. One trip to Alaska is definitely not enough!
@@AlaskanRamTravelAdventures We are heading back at the end of July! Once in Dawson this time, we are travelling 'The Dempster Highway' to the Arctic Ocean and the village of Tuktoyuktuk! We are going to visit Fairbanks, Valdez, Homer and Anchorage.
